Fulton County Schools' Superintendent announces her retirement
April 25, 2025

(Editor's Note: The following was submitted to The Current April 25 by Patrice Chambers, Fulton County Schools' Superintendent)
To the Fulton County Board of Education, Faculty and Staff,
After 28 incredible years in education, I am writing to formally announce my retirement as Superintendent of Fulton County Schools, effective August 1, 2025. As I prepare to close this meaningful chapter, I do so with a mix of emotions-gratitude, pride, and a touch of sadness.
It has been a true privilege to dedicate nearly three decades to Fulton County Schools-the best-kept secret in far Western Kentucky. I consider myself fortunate and blessed to have experienced this district as a student, teacher, parent, and, for the last five years, as your Superintendent.
I am proud to have witnessed our district thrive in many areas. Together, we have built a fiscally sound foundation and a steadfast commitment to student success in the classroom, on the stage, and in the realm of athletics. That shared legacy assures me the district is ready for its next chapter.
I am deeply grateful for the support of my husband, my family, and the Board throughout this journey. It has been the greatest honor of my career to serve alongside such dedicated administrators, faculty, and staff, each of whom places students at the heart of all we do.
While retirement is on the horizon, we still have meaningful work in the weeks and months ahead. I look forward to continuing our vision of Relentlessly Pursuing Excellence. Thank you for the amazing journey. Pilots will always prevail!
