South Fulton Middle School Lady Devils softball now in full swing
South Fulton Lady Red Devils softball team suffered a defeat at the hands, and bats of the Dresden Lady Lions on Aug. 6, but pulled off a win against county neighbors, Hillcrest Lady Cougars on Aug. 17.
After four innings of play against Dresden, the Lady Devils managed to pull off two trips home, but the Lady Lions scored four runs in the first, nine more in the second inning and four more in the third inning, holding SFMS scoreless after the second inning of play.
Losing pitcher was Maddie Gray, with 12 walks. Gray and Lydia Carlisle took top hitting honors.
The Lady Devils scored two runs in the first inning of play versus Hillcrest, to the Lady Cougars’ one, then pulled ahead strong in the second with four runs, to take a 6-1 lead.
Hillcrest came back in the third, within one run against South Fulton, 6-5, with neither team managing a run in the fourth. Hillcrest then tied it up in the fifth, 6-6, but the Lady Devils rounded the bases two more times, holding the Lady Cougars to run run in the sixth and final inning of play, final score, 8-7, in favor of South Fulton.
Gray once again was on the mound for the Lady Devils, with four strike-outs and seven walks.
Ivy Kate Morris and Gray came away with big hits for the game.
