Devils prevail in tug of war game vs. Bulldogs
March 28
The Red Devils traveled to Bardwell to take on Carlisle County. The Red Devils couldn’t find a way to pull out a win, falling to Carlisle County 10-0.
Janson Cook took the pitching loss for the Red Devils as he pitched four innings allowing eight runs off of six hits. Cook struck out two batters and walked one.
March 29
To conclude the South Fulton High School Red Devils’ Spring break they traveled south of the border to compete in a make up game against the Fulton High School Bulldogs.
As the Bulldogs threw their first pitch the rain started to pour down, as the Red Devils struck first, scoring in the first inning.
Eli Carlisle came in for the Red Devils as he reached base on an error.
The Bulldogs took a three run lead in the bottom of the first bringing the score to 4-1.
The Red Devils fought back in the top of the third inning as Bryce McFarland and Brock Brown rounded the bases to score bringing the score to 4-3.
In the top of the fourth, South Fulton tied the game and later that inning took the lead.
Drew Barclay came in as Brown crushed a ball into left field sending Brown all the way to third. Brown came in off of McFarland’s hard ground ball which put the Red Devils ahead.
In the bottom of the fifth the Bulldogs tied the game back up at five.
Zion Yisrael got walked and stole second to put him in scoring position. A fly ball to center field to scored Zion Yisrael.
In the top of the sixth, McFarland reached first on an error and later stole second.
Carlisle came up to plate and had a large base hit down the left field line to score McFarland taking the lead back.
Greg Davis hit a blooper over the first baseman’s head to score Carlisle to extend the lead bringing the score to seven to five.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Bulldogs scored four runs gaining the lead once again. Kire Tribble was walked and later reached second stealing.
Keith Martin was also walked and Trinity Tibbs hit in Tribble.
Jaron Pryor was walked to load the bases. Zion Yisrael was hit by a pitch, scoring Tibbs. Tibbs and Pryor crossed home on a hard hit single.
The Red Devils chipped away at the lead in the top of the seventh. Jason Cook came in off of Barclays hit to bring the score to a one run game, 8-9.
Barclays hit moved Beau Britt to third putting him in a huge scoring position.
Brown then had a single to move Barclay to second, loading the bases.
McFarland hit a double play ground ball, with Roney up, and Carlisle on first and Brown on third.
Brown and Carlisle came in off of Roney’s ball to take the lead for the Red Devils, 10-9.
The Bulldogs fought back later that inning to tie the game once again as Drew Malray came in to score bringing the game to 10-10.
In the top of the ninth, Carlisle hit a two run home run to put the Red Devils ahead for good at 12-10.
Eli Carlisle earned the pitching win for the Red Devils.
Carlisle pitched a total of two innings walking one batter and striking out five batters allowing no runs to come in. Along with Carlisle, Brown and McFarland held pitching responsibilities. McFarland started the game pitching three innings and walking seven, striking out four.
While McFarland was on the mound four runs came in, and Brown came in relief for McFarland pitching the next four innings walking five batters and striking out five.
April 1
The Red Devils traveled to take on the Lake County Falcons. The Red Devils couldn’t pull out a win 16-4.
Janson Cook was on the mound for three innings of this game. Cook was charged with the pitching loss as he allowed 16 runs to come into score.
The Red Devils are now 5-7 on the season.
