Jan Work, of South Fulton, Tenn., passed away Fri., June 5, 2026, at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray, Ky.
Jan was born Jan. 4, 1939 to the late Jesse Fuqua and Marjorie Grady Fuqua.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, whose life was marked by faith, love, kindness and service to others.
One of the many ways she expressed her love for others, was found in her kitchen, where family and friends always knew they could find a warm meal.
She treasured simple moments together, gathering around the table for holidays, and making those who walked through the door feel welcomed, loved, and valued.
Jan was also an avid golfer, having made a hole in one in 1984, and being a member of the Oakhill Country Club in Clinton, Ky.
Jan’s ability to love and welcome, was also seen through her faith, having been a member of the Pilot Oak Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Albert Work; a son, Timothy “Tim” Lee Work, of Gallatin, Tenn.; a daughter, Susan (Jeff) Elizabeth Work Jeffers, of Gallatin, Tenn.; grandchildren, Joseph (Gerri) Jeffers, Seth Jeffers, and Tyler Jeffers, all of Gallatin, Tenn., and Maranda (Caleb) Olive, of Seymore Tenn.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Fuqua.
Funeral services will be held Mon., June 8 at 2 p.m. at Pilot Oak Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Pinegar Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. at the church until the funeral hour.
Memorials may be made to the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House, 803 Poplar St, Murray, Ky. 42071, and to the Pinegar Cemetery in c/o Larry Roberts, 1514 State Line Road, Fulton, Ky. 42041.
