AREA OBITUARIES – Don Robertson

March 05, 2026

Donald Ray (Don) Robertson, age 85, passed away peacefully at Baptist Healthcare Paducah on Mon., March 2, 2026. He was loved by all, a Collector of Life, and will be dearly missed by many. He was born on Aug. 11, 1940, to George and Essie Robertson (Eastwood) in Caruthersville, Mo. Don graduated in 1958 Caruthersville High School and entered the US Navy to serve three years aboard the USS Robert L. Wilson, D.D.E. 847 a destroyer escort out of Norfolk, Va. After an honorable discharge in 1961, Don went to work for Brown Shoe Company in Caruthersville. In 1968, he went to work for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Union City, Tenn., retiring after 30 years in 1999.
Don spent a number of years volunteering in various ways in Clinton, Ky., and the Twin Cities of Fulton, Ky., and South Fulton, Tenn. He was a member of the Purchase Area 4H Council for over 20 years and also volunteered for many of those years as an Adult Counselor for 4H Camp. (He was well known as the "Soup Nazi" at camp). Don spent many Friday nights supervising the skating rink/rec center in Clinton and also coaching a youth league baseball team, His team didn't win many tournaments, but they learned a lot about sportsmanship and respect. He was also a member of the Clinton Lions Club, enjoying his work with the community events. Every now and then he would put on his jumpsuit and become a great Elvis impersonator, to the delight of his many fans, He also "assisted" Santa Claus by being a Santa's Helper at Christmas.
Don married Lori (McMinn) Robertson on Oct. 14, 1989, and moved to South Fulton, Tenn. Don had begun working with the Clinton Halloween Parade at its beginning in 1980, and he and Lori would continue with the event until 2006.
Don earned his Auctioneer's license in 1996 and his real estate license in 2002. He never made a lot of money at either, but he enjoyed both jobs. He auctioneered for the South PTO Auction benefit at South Fulton Elementary for several years and also for the Ducks Unlimited yearly banquets in Hickman, Ky., and for the Murray State University chapter in Murray, Kentucky. He also was the current Commander of the Marshall Alexander Post #72 American Legion, Fulton, Ky.
Don was saved by Grace at the age of 31. He was a member of Crutchfield Methodist Church and has spent many years trying to be the man that God wanted him to be. Seems like Don had a struggle trying to be good all of the time. He also served as a Youth RA leader at Crutchfield Baptist Church.
He survived by his wife and helpmate of 35 years, Lori Diane (McMinn) Robertson, with whom he had some of the best times of his life. Hopefully they will meet in the hereafter so she can continue to look after him as she did here. He also leaves three children: Elizabeth Dawn (Rodney) Pyle, Michael Jon Robertson, and Carly Donnise Robertson. His three children are without a doubt his greatest accomplishments in life. He leaves five grandchildren: Caela Elizabeth Black (Ben Wyland), James Macade Pyle (Lauren), Chloe Raye (Callen) Aldridge, Jon Cooper Robertson and Brody Carter Robertson. He also leaves great-grandchildren Benjamin Ryker Wyland, Gemma Elizabeth Wyland, Baby Aldridge (due in April), and Cruz Lopez. Don felt blessed that his family members have lived close so he could make wonderful memories with them. He also leaves two great-nieces: Jamie LeaAnn (Denver) Buchanan and sons Atlas and Cyrus, and Emily Kay Taylor (Steve McCall).
Don was preceded in death by his parents George Willis Robertson and Essie Brown Robertson Eastwood plus a great stepdad, James Paul Eastwood, who loved him like own. His sister, Maxine Elizabeth (Robertson) Pierce, his brother, George Willis Robertson, Jr., his nieces, Terre Kay Pierce and Lea Ann (Pierce) Frizzell, and his nephew Michael Franklin Pierce also preceded him in death. If this obituary sounds good and speaks highly of Don it's because he wrote it. No one else would have done it this way.
Funeral services  will be held at 1 p.m. Sat., March 7, 2026 at Hornbeak Funeral Home. Visitation will be held  from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
