AREA OBITUARIES -- CORINNE SHAW

Mrs. Corinne Willingham Shaw, age 99, of Hickman, Ky. passed away peacefully at 8:55 a.m. Sat., March 15, 2025, at Lake Way Nursing Home in Benton, Ky.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Sat., March 22, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church in Hickman. Rev. John Varden will officiate. Burial will follow in Hickman City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Sat. March 22, 2025.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home of Union City, Tenn. is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Shaw, Matthew McCormick, Rickey Parker, Will Rice, Clifford Hickerson, and Doug Voorhees.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Shaw, George Shaw, Dan Rice, Hal Rice, Ben Lattus, Melissa Newton, and Carol Major.
Mrs. Shaw was born January 3, 1926, in Bardwell, Ky., to the late Sanford and Bertha Owen Willingham. She was raised by her grandmother and grandfather, Emma Elizabeth and Robert Oscar Willingham, Jr. after the death of her mother.
She graduated high school early and attended Murray State University, where she obtained her teaching degree and retired in 1990 from the Fulton County School District.
One of her favorite memories of college days was that she was the first female to wear jeans on campus and remained an avid fan of the Murray State Racers and didn't miss a ballgame whether it was by TV or radio.
She was a trailblazer for her time and loved fashion.
She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Hickman, Ky. where she taught Sunday School.
Mrs. Corinne was a passionate supporter of the Hickman Public Library and loved to read. According to their records when they transitioned to an electronic system from 2006-2023, she had read 5,222 books.
She had a beautiful mind. She was known for her quick wit and sense of humor until her last days. She will be missed by her friends and family.
She is survived by her son, Stephen B. Shaw (Brenda) of Paducah, Ky. She was the grandmother to Stephen S. Shaw (Shon) of Benton, Ky. and Emma L. Shaw of Murray, Ky. In addition, she had two great-grandsons, Hunter Shaw and Matthew McCormick (Caroline) and one great-great-grandson, Beau McCormick.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard E. Shaw, Jr; her parents, Sandford and Bertha Willingham; her grandparents, Emma and Robert Willingham; and three siblings, Robert O. Willingham, Mary Todd Garcia, and Anita Orfila.
