Mr. Lawrence Haney, age 87, of Madison, Ala. and formerly of South Fulton, Tenn. passed away Fri., Oct. 4, 2024at the Valley View Health and Rehabilitation in Madison, Ala.
He was born on January 19, 1937 in Hickman, Ky. to the late Margaret Haney.
Lawrence graduated Western High School in 1955, where he loved to play basketball. He served his country in the Army-National Guard, before returning home to go to work.  He was a trained plumber and would later work at Goodyear for nearly 30 years.
He and Peggy Wilkerson married in 1958 and made their home in South Fulton where they raised their children David and wife Diane, and their two sons, William and Phillip Haney of Springhill, Tenn. and and a daughter, Lee and husband, Jeff Wilhaucks and their two daughters, Ella and Emma Wilhaucks, of Madison, Ala.  

Lawrence was a faithful member of the South Fulton Baptist Church for more than 60 years.
Lawrence enjoyed wood working but most of all he loved helping others in his spare time. After retirement he became passionate about supporting the Habitat for Humanity and the Kids to Love Foundation. Lawrence felt it was his ministry to help widows with their plumbing needs.
In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by his sister and close friend Martha Brunswick; two other sisters Meta Griffith and Mary Haney, two brothers Larry and Charlie Mack Haney.
Funeral services for Lawrence Haney were held at 11 a.m. Mon., Oct. 7, at the South Fulton Baptist Church, with Dr. Ron Cox officiating, with burial to follow in the Hickman City Cemetery. Visitation  for Mr. Lawrence Haney was held Sunday evening, Oct. 6 from 5-8 p.m., at South Fulton Baptist Church in South Fulton. Hornbeak Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of arrangements.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Lawrence's memory to the Kids to Love Foundation, 140 Castle Drive, Madison, AL 35758.
