Bivens among athletes to represent USA
University of Tennessee at Martin softball student-athletes Aalia Bivens, of South Fulton, and Shelby Woodard are set to represent the United States in the upcoming Netherlands Friendship Series from June 3-12.
Bivens, a South Fulton High School graduate and softball standout for the Lady Devils, and Woodard will join forces once again along with other athletes from around the country with USA Athletes International (USAAA).
USA Athletes International, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving amateur athletes and coaches the opportunity to participate in international Olympic-style sporting events throughout the world, while also allowing them to broaden their educational and cultural knowledge of the world through the experience. USAAI has been participating in international competition since 1992.
Bivens recently completed her junior campaign with the Skyhawks where she started in 51 games primarily in right field.
The two-time OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll recipient posted a .262 batting average with eight doubles, three home runs and 18 RBIs.
