RESOLUTION No. 2024-02

A RESOLUTION REGARDING RURAL FIRE SERVICE FEES

WHEREAS, on July 1, 2024, the City of South Fulton Board of Mayor and Commissioners amended its

Rural Fire Service protection plan regarding fees and other issues in order for the South Fulton Fire

Department to furnish fire protection coverage to areas outside the city limits; and

WHEREAS, in order to keep such Rural Fire Service self-supporting and not be a burden on the

taxpayers of the City of South Fulton, it is necessary to revise the fees charged for the provision of any

rural fire service; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 7-503. Fees. of Ordinance 2012-01, An Ordinance To Amend South

Fulton Municipal Code Title 7, Chapter 5, Rural Fire Service, approved and effective as of March 15,

2012, any future fees will be changed by Resolution adopted by the Board of Commissioners.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of South Fulton Board of Mayor and

Commissioners revise the following fees and authorize implementation thereof under Section 7-503.

Fees. of Ordinance 2012-01, An Ordinance To Amend South Fulton Municipal Code Title 7, Chapter 5,

Rural Fire Service as follows:

Fees:

1. Anyone who wants to participate in the Rural Fire Service program shall be required to pay an

annual rural fire service fee of $100.00 for each piece of property to be covered.

2. The first response by the City to any Rural Fire Service covered property during each annual

subscription period shall be free. Every subsequent fire call response made before August 1,

2024, and thereafter to any such Rural Fire Service covered property will result in a fee of

$750.00 during each annual subscription period.

3. If the City responds to any Rural Fire Service call or request for a response relating to any non-

covered property at any time, the fee shall be $5,000.00 for each response.

4. New participants subscribing to the Rural Fire Service program after August 1 st will be charged a

prorated amount of $8.333 per month for each month before the next annual due date.

5. All fees shall be paid to South Fulton City Hall within 30 days of the date of any bill transmitted

by South Fulton to anyone or their insurance company for any Rural Fire Service response.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THIS RESOLUTION shall take effect immediately upon

passage.
